Kangning (Connie) He

Connie completed her undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Edinburgh and Zhejiang University, graduating with First Class Honours. She then joined the Balmus Lab for her MPhil in Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge, and has continued in the lab as a Research Assistant. Her earlier research spanned neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease and the molecular biology of atherosclerosis.

Her current work investigates how DNA damage and repair pathways govern somatic CAG repeat instability in Huntington’s disease. Using CRISPR-based screening and degron tools in human cell models, she asks whether these pathways can be redirected to promote repeat expansion or contraction as a potential therapeutic route.
