Dr Rizwan Ansari

Dr. Rizwan Ansari is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Prof. Gabriel Balmus' group. He earned a BSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Central Lancashire and an MSc in Stem Cell Technology from the University of Nottingham. He then spent nearly seven years at the Wellcome Sanger Institute as an Advanced Research Assistant, contributing to several scientific publications. Rizwan later completed a PhD in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge, where he developed novel models for Parkinson’s disease (PD) research and used them to gain deeper insights into the mechanisms underlying the disease. Currently, as a Postdoctoral Researcher, he focuses on identifying novel therapeutic drug targets for POLG disorders using genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screens.
